Introduction to
Exam Management
Teaching students how to plan, prepare and manage the exam process
Introduction
Students internationally can experience anxiety as examination dates approach. However, there is no magic formula for exam success, as it ultimately all about a commitment to allocate appropriate time to plan, prepare, and manage the process. Indeed, as teachers are aware, the preparation for exam starts from the beginning of each course, not at the last minute in some form of chaotic panic cramming.
Consequently, this professional development experience will examine practical steps when teaching students how to effectively plan, prepare, and manage the exam process. Throughout, the course will focus on an evaluation of example materials that can be used to demonstrate exam competency skills. The five themes covered on this course are:
Addressing common student emotional experiences during the exam revision process
Managing time and self-management challenges
Teaching the key practical steps to successfully complete the exam planning proces
Exploring approaches to enable students to manage exam stress and avoid negative irrational predictions
Evaluating practical ways to improve performance during and following examinations
The Course Aim
To develop the key skills required to help students to successfully manage the examination challenge
The Course Objective
By the end of this course, participants should be able to effectively lead students through all key stages of the examination process while limiting exposure to anxiety and stress.
